My 19th album, "A Week in Blues," is an instrumental diary. It’s seven tracks (one for each day) that trace the emotional arc of a week through the soulful language of blues guitar.
At its core, it's a conversation between electric guitars, their voices shaped by pedals and amplifiers. They’re supported by the steady heartbeat of bass and drums, creating a world where each day has its own distinct mood.
The week begins with the raw, contemplative simplicity of "Monday Logic Blues." As it unfolds, the sound deepens: the warm cry of an alto sax on "Tuesday Blues," the rich, swirling soul of a Hammond B3 organ on "Wednesday B3 Blues," and the lead guitar over a dreamy Wurlitzer on "Thursday W Blues."
The energy shifts as the weekend approaches. "Thank God It’s Friday" breathes with the bright, reflective sound of piano. "Saturday Blues" is a lively celebration, a full-band conversation fueled by dueling guitars and that timeless B3. Finally, "Sunday Godspeed Blues" offers a reflective, almost spiritual finale: a moment of uplift before the cycle begins anew.
More than just a genre exercise, A Week in Blues is an immersive journey. It’s about the quiet resolve of Monday morning, the release of Friday night, and the poignant calm of Sunday. Let it soundtrack your week.
