Not a guitar: A Technical Study in Virtual Realism.
This track is an intentional illusion. Despite its raw, tactile blues aesthetic, it was composed entirely without a physical guitar. Following the same meticulous methodology used for the cello on my album 'Not a Cello,' this piece serves as a masterclass in simulating the soul of an instrument, but this time instead of crafting it in Nano Studio 2 Obsidian synth, I worked in Logic Pro on Mac.
Utilizing a complex hybrid workflow of hand-crafted samples, intricate MIDI programming, and deeply layered controller data, I tried to replicate the 'imperfect' nuances of a live session: the slide resonances, the rhythmic 'sway' of the improviser, the fret noise, and the raw grit of a vintage amp.
